In Indonesia, wedding receptions are common and frequent. You will find a sign of a wedding reception usually installed at the end of a street not far from where the wedding reception is being held. Wedding receptions are held mostly on weekends considering that weekends are holidays and most people have more time to attend wedding invitations.

Although wedding receptions are held at hotels or restaurants, the wedding reception signs are still set up at the end of the street not far from the bride’s home. Since there is more than one reception, the wedding reception signs have a label with bride and bridegroom’s names written on it so that invitees will not attend the wrong receptions. More often than not, more than one wedding receptions are held in one neighborhood but on different streets. Confusion may occur if the wedding signs have no bride and bridegroom’s names on it.

At the house where the wedding reception is held, a wedding tent is set up under which guests are seated.  In the tent, food and drink are served. On the corner of the tent or inside the house, chairs for bride and bridegroom are arranged. At the end or at the beginning of the reception, guests usually shake hands with the bride, bridegroom, and their parents to congratulate them on the wedding.
